"What do you call giving a medieval society the ability to make hot air balloons and bicycles!" John asked, staring at Rodney from across the simulation table.
"I just nudged their evolution a little. They would have figured it all out eventually. And what do you call increasing your country's military?" the other man said.
"A strategic decision since apparently you're going to be invading in balloons and on bicycles."
"Oh, please."
Before they could continue with their argument, a message came through from Carter, calling them to the conference room for a meeting. Sharing a look of confusion, they closed off the interface system and headed up to Operations. When they arrived, Fred and Carter were there with an Asgard.
"John, Rodney, this is Thor. Thor, this is Rodney Mckay and John Sheppard," Carter introduced. "He had some information for us about one of the nearby planets."
Thor. The Thor? John furrowed his brow, wondering what was going on. Once everyone else had arrived, they started to explain what they had found on M-9406. As they did, John felt his stomach drop.
"So as you can see, we are most worried about what could be going on," Thor said once they finished.
"Did you say hot air balloons?" John asked.
"And bicycles?" Rodney almost choked out.
"I did."
John and Rodney shared a look. Shit.
"I...think we might know what's going on," John said softly. "We thought it was a simulation."
"What?" Carter asked. "Thought what was a simulation."
Standing up, John pointed out of the conference room. "I think we'd better show you."
