After Daniel and Teyla had left the room, Carter dismissed the rest of them so they could get on with their day. Fred kissed John goodbye and went to get Alex from Laura. The two of them spent the rest of the day in the lab, doing nothing overly important. Fred loved quiet days and found herself slipping out early and looking for John so they could spend some quality time together as a family. They ended up taking a jumper to the swimming area of the mainland and dipping Alex's feet into the ocean.
The following morning, she woke up fairly early and got ready to go to DC with Jennifer. She kissed her husband and daughter goodbye and met the other woman by the Gate. Carter was there to see them off and told them to contact SGC if anything happened that caused them to have to stay longer. After saying goodbye, Fred and Jennifer walked through the Gate and into SGC.
General Landry was there to greet them and said he was going to DC with them since he had to meet with some officials at the pentagon. All of them boarded a plane to DC and a few hours later, they were touching down. Landry walked them to their meeting spot and introduced to the people Jennifer would be meeting with. While standing there, Fred saw Colonel Green, the man who'd suggested John to her for the testing, and spoke to him, saying John and her were now married. This little tidbit seemed to interest part of the Homeland Security group.
The meeting was long but Fred felt herself feeling very proud of Jennifer. She knew the other woman was very intelligent and listening to her research was interesting. After the meeting, they made small talk while they waited for Landry to finish with his own meeting. And during this time, Fred found herself having a very awkward conversation with one of the Homeland Security people.
Soon it was time to go back to SGC and all of them boarded the plane. Before they left SGC, Landry gave Fred some papers to give to Carter. After they had said goodbye, Jennifer and her walked through the Gate. Fred gave Carter the papers and started toward the living area. She felt a sense of dread coming over her as she wondered if she should tell John about what had happened.
When she stepped into their quarters, she smiled at him and Alex before kicking off her shoes. Fred sit down on couch beside her husband and daughter and looked at John for a moment. "I, um," she started. "I didn't know Nancy was part of Homeland Security. She was at the meeting and when she found out I'm married to you, she...well, it's hard to explain but she asked how you were but seemed really awkward about it. She wasn't mean or anything - she just seemed really uncomfortable." She pressed her lips together and looked at him for a moment. "So, how was your day?"
