John smiled when Jennifer told Ronon the news. So soon Alex wasn't going to be the only baby on Atlantis. Of course, they knew that he and Fred would have another daughter at some time in the near future, but knowing that the others were ready to raise families here as well made it feel even more like home and a colony than an expedition and military base.
"Congratulations," John told both his friends as well. He could see that the other man was really pleased by the news. He wondered if part of it was because Ronon was one of the last - if not the last - of his people. A baby with Jennifer would continue his bloodline, and he knew how important his people had been to him.
As everyone began to head to medical, John turned to Fred when she took his hand, smiling at her words. He reached up to touch her face and returned her kiss. "There was definitely something about kissing you," he told her. "And it just wasn't the arousal. Callie was definitely right about us. Makes me wonder what it would have been like if we had really known each other as teenagers. Of course, I still would have been older than you."
After they had retrieved Alex and her bear from the playpen by Fred's desk, they headed to medical and got their checks from Carson. He also checked Alex to make sure she hadn't been affected in anyway by the exposure. Once they were done, they all decided to go have dinner together to celebrate Jennifer and Ronon's news. Sam disappeared for a little bit but returned just as everyone was sitting down in the dining hall after getting their food.
"Daniel Jackson will be coming to Atlantis tomorrow. He was in SGC when I called, so I got to speak to him directly. He's looking forward to seeing what we've found," she told them.
"Daniel Jackson?" Teyla asked curiously. "I've heard his name before."
"He's the one that figured out the address that brought us here," John told her.
"Ah!" she replied with a nod. "I'm looking forward to meeting him then since he helped my people to find new allies and a new home."
