Fred felt as if the room was spinning around her. She held onto Alex as tightly as she good. Suddenly, the room stopped spinning and Fred opened her eyes. Where in the heck was she? It looked like some sort of lab, which made her feel a little better. This had to be the lab at MIT. After all, she had made an appointment to go there to visit.
When the man next to her started to speak, Fred looked at him and wrinkled her nose before looking at the baby in her arms. What in the hell? "Whose baby is this?" she asked as she looked around the room. She saw a blonde woman standing there and figured it was her baby. "Here's your baby back, ma'am." She handed the baby over and then looked around.
"I'm Fred Burkle," she said to the man she'd been standing by. She then snorted and stood by the guy who was talking about a science project. "I bet he's a cop. We shouldn't trust him. My cousin Richie says cops and the military shouldn't be trusted. He's probably a narc! So, what's your name?"
"R-R-Rodney McKay," he said. "You're, um, you're cute."
Fred blushed and giggled. "Thanks! So are you," she said before she looked down at her feet.
"What have you guys done to me? Is this some kind of hazing? I told my parents I was too young to go to college by myself," a red hair girl cried. Fred frowned and went over to her.
"It's okay. You can stand with Rodney and I," she said.
"Does anyone know where we are?" asked the blonde woman before she looked at the baby. "And I'm pretty sure this isn't my baby."
