John grinned at his wife as she came out from the back of the lab. As she took Alex from his arms, he leaned down to meet her kiss. Alex's laugh caused them to pull apart, however, and look back at Rodney. The guy was going to start getting a complex even if their daughter didn't mean anything by it.
Actually, judging from his reaction, he already did.
"Our morning was great," John told Fred as he took Alex's bag off his shoulder and set it down on the table. "We went for a walk, and we dropped by Operations so she could see the Gate. And yes, she's eaten, so she should be good for a while."
"She might want this, though," Carter said from behind him. John turned around to see her walking in with Alex's shoe. "It fell off, and since I was coming down here anyway, I thought I'd bring it with me."
"Thanks," John said, a bit embarrassed that he hadn't noticed. As he put Alex's shoe back on her, Carter turned to Fred and Rodney.
"How are things going with that bottle you found?"
