Fred turned her head and grinned when John walked into the room. "Hey," she quietly said. Luckily, the bed was big enough for the two of them - something Fred was going to have to thank Carson for later because she didn't want to spend the night away from John. She wanted their first night as a family to be spent together.
"Tired but good. She's so beautiful, John," Fred whispered. She then shifted a little and smiled. "How about we let daddy have a turn."
Fred carefully slipped Alex into John's arms and then shifted again. She leaned her head against his shoulder and just watched as he held their daughter. Fred had to admit it was one of the most amazing and beautiful things she had ever seen in her entire life. Leaning up, she softly kissed his cheek. "You're such a good father, John," she whispered.
Some time passed and soon Jennifer was walking through the door with a small plastic bag. She grinned at them and set the bag to the side before moving over to the bed. "Oh my god! She's adorable!" she said as she looked down at Alex. She then cleared her throat. "Sorry. I'm actually here to get you started with feeding her. She won't eat a lot the first time so once she's finished, I'll show you how to use the breast pump so we can fill some bottles up so John can feed her too."
Nodding, Fred unbuttoned the front of her pajama top. She took Alex from John and, with Jennifer's help, Alex was soon feeding from her. "Wow," she said with a small laugh. "This feels a little strange and wonderful at the same time."
"I'll let the two of you have some privacy and come back in a few to help with the pump," Jennifer said before slipping out of the room.
