A few weeks later, everyone gathered for the ceremony where Jennifer and Ronon officially became Callie's parents. Teyla led it as she had promised, speaking on the importance of what Ronon and Jennifer were doing before Callie placed a pendent she had made around each other their necks. After the ceremony, they all had a celebratory dinner together. John didn't think he had remembered seeing Callie happier than she looked that day - she had a family again. Of course, she'd had that family for months now, but he knew that having it official was different.
After that, they made sure that everything was ready for Alex's pending arrival. Furniture was delivered through the Gate - a crib and chest of drawers for the room that would be their daughter's nursery - as well as toys and supplies.
Wyvern also came to the city to complete his blessing of Alex. He spoke some words neither John or Fred understood and rubbed a bit of sweet-smelling oil over Fred's stomach. Once he was done, he presented them with a bracelet. When John saw it, he recognized it as the one the older Alex had been wearing when she had come back to warn them and give them the fifth relic. They put the bracelet away to give to her when she was older.
Soon, it was a week before Alex was due, and John had never felt more anxious. Of course, he knew everything would turn out all right, but he still wanted things to go well, and he especially wanted to be a good father.
And unfortunately, as much as he wanted to stay with Fred, he had his duties to oversee. So he kissed her softly and told her to call him if she needed him before heading out.
"So are you ready to be a father?" Lorne asked as did their monthly puddle jumper check.
"Everyone keeps asking me that," John replied. "I think so. I just...I want everything to go well."
