John found he couldn't let Alex go as Fred spoke to her. For whatever reason, their daughter was there, however she had done it. Callie's arrival interrupted whatever Alex had been about to say - it was obvious the two girls knew each other, and that Callie knew why Alex was there.
"Failsafe?" he asked, wondering what in the world was going on. Why had Alex come back? Had they really been killed?
Everyone seemed to want to know what was going on, so they headed for the conference room. In a way, it was strange to know he was holding his daughter's hand before he'd even had a chance to hold her as a baby, but that was time travel, it seemed. He listened as Alex and Fred spoke about how Alex had done it, pride bubbling up in him, despite what was going on. Of course their daughter would be smart, considering who her mother was, he thought, looking over at his wife. And hopefully, they'd be able to deal with what she came back for.
Which ended up being a dozy. John sat slightly turned in his chair, listening as Alex explained what had happened with an alternate Doctor Weir and the alien race she had been with. As she spoke, he frowned, feeling a his chest tighten. Alex kidnapped. Separated. Atlantis destroyed. He didn't like the sound of that. Not at all.
When Alex pulled out the fifth relic, John looked at it amazement. Fred has said there was a spot for a fifth, and now their daughter from the future was holding it out to them. And of course it glowed - both he and Fred had the ATA gene, so Alex would as well.
"So we just put the relics together, and then...?" Jennifer asked.
"No, it's not that simple. From what Callie - Callie from my time said - the relics need a holder. It's somewhere in the center of the city on the lower levels, but we're not sure exactly where."
"Will you know it when you see it?" John asked, reaching over and running his hand over Alex's hair.
"I...I think so. Callie drew it," she said, pulling out a drawing.
"So we need to search the lower center levels of the city," Carter said. "Will the relics be powered once they're slotted in?"
Alex shook her head. "I don't think so - they've been out of their holder for a long time. That's why we need to get them in as soon as possible."
