"2015?" John repeated in amazement, looking from Fred to Rodeny and then up at the message. Why in the hell would they be getting a message from 2015 telling them to meet whoever had sent it at the Gate.
And it was just then that he realized that he had seen way too many strange things in the time he had been with the expedition because he hadn't even considered the idea that it might be a prank. Not that it appeared to be, based on what Rodney was saying. He remembered Fred mentioning putting in the failsafes after they had gotten the Goa'uld out of Caldwell. Although he wondered what stupidity Rodney was referring to with Cadman. Did that have something to do with why the two of them were bandaged?
Looking over at Carter, John nodded in agreement to suspending Gate activity. It was definitely the safest thing to do for the time being. He then glanced over at Carson.
"Well, you're right - most people wouldn't warn us that they're going to launch some sort of attack on us," he agreed. "But it's still a good idea to careful. Just in case."
As the time to the meeting passed, the uncertainty levels in the city raised. Rodney's guesses as to who - or what - would come through ranged from a wraith to a genii to a goa'uld to a big, ugly monster. When it finally got to be the time, John was ready to smack him upside the head. Or give Einstein more catnip. Rodney hadn't been able to keep from complaining about that either.
At four, the Gate suddenly came to life, telling them that someone was dialing in. When the wormhole shimmered into existence, one of the technicians called to Carter.
"Sir, we're getting an id code. It's...Colonel Sheppard's."
John looked up. "What?"
Everyone took up defensive positions - just as a ten-year-old girl with brown hair and blue eyes came through the wormhole.
