John wasn't sure that Ronon might not grab Rodney and make good on his threat, the way he was staring at him across the table. Luckily, though, Max returned with the kids, breaking the moment and distracting all of them, especially when Finn waved at his father.
Soon, they had started the presentation, and John could see the pride on Ronon's face as he watched his daughter speak. Then Alex started talking, and John's own pride soon turned to a bit of embarrassment when Alex told everyone what he had said once as a joke. Looking over at his wife, he rubbed his hand against his forehead.
She'll grow out of it one day, right? he asked Fred before he heard Ronon rumble in his own embarrassment at Finn's question.
Their kids.
"I have one question, and then we can go to the beach," Sam said once Alex asked if they could go to the beach for the picnic they had promised the kids after presentation. "How long will it take to build each bridge."
"About a week per bridge," Lis said. "It'll go faster if we have two teams building from each end to meet in the middle. Like the United States transcontinental railroad on Earth that Max told us about."
Sam nodded. "Well, I think it's a great idea. We'll start looking into getting a project team together and planning everything out."
"Yay!" Alex said before running over to John and crawling into his lap. "Did you hear, Mommy?"
"Well done, all of you," Sam said with a smile as Ronon stood up to hug his daughter. "Definitely deserves a picnic on the beach, doesn't it?"
