Fred suddenly had a lot of respect for her husband. Being able to live in these conditions was something she could never do. She would happily take Texas weather over this, even if it meant hiding from thunderstorms. It was just too cold there for her liking and too white. At least she could take off some of her outerwear when they got inside, which was nice. It really weighed more than she thought it would.
Standing back, she watched as they extracted the relic from the ice. Fred wanted a closer look but wasn't sure if the laser beam would be good for the baby so she stood away from them and watched. Once they were finished with the beam, she moved closer and watched as Daniel chipped off the remaining ice. Fred then gave John a smile as he bent down to pick it up and grinned when it started to glow. "That's it," she said before taking it from him.
"Amazing," Daniel said as he looked down at the relic in Fred's hand. "Sam tells me there's a third one?"
"In Texas," Fred told him. "We aren't sure what they're used for just yet but I'm hoping to find out soon."
Daniel nodded. "Keep me up-to-date. I'm interested in seeing what they're for," he said before glancing down at his watch. "I'm sure the two of you want to get out of here and get on your way."
Fred nodded, not wanting to stay there any longer. After saying goodbye to Daniel, she bundled herself up again and walked out of the building with John, making sure to hang on to him. She was still a bit worried about the polar bears and was glad when they finally got back to the flyer. Once John had helped her back in, she stripped off everything except for her jacket before going up front to sit down.
When John sat next to her, Fred reached out and grabbed the front of his jacket, and pulled him closer. She deeply kissed him for several moments before pulling back. "Had to make sure I could still feel my lips," she murmured.
