Fred knew John was right, and they would be fine once Mere was there. Looking at Alex, she sighed and shook her head as she watched her daughter stomp back to her bedroom. She then looked down at Chase and softly touched his cheek. "Thanks, little man," she said. "Are you excited about Mere coming?"
Chase nodded his head. "Yes! She's going to be different from the other Mere," he said.
Furrowing her brow, Fred looked at John. They had worried about something being different about her since she was conceived earlier, and Fred had been pregnant with her when she helped John escape from the Wraith Queen. "A good different?" she asked.
"Very good different," Chase said with a grin. "She looks different and will be smart and help people!"
Fred let out the breath she didn't know she was holding. "Thanks, Chase," she said just as Alex came out and dropped her bag to the floor. Fred moved over to the table and sat on one of the chairs. "Come here, sweetie."
Alex relucantly went over to the table and sat down next to her mom. "Want to go with you," she quietly said.
"I know you do but you're too young," Fred said as she leaned over and softly kissed Alex on top of the head. "I'll make you a deal - when Mere is born, you can come down and spend the rest of the night with us."
"Okay," Alex said.
"Why don't you eat some," Fred said before she froze in place. "Actually, why don't you go get one the little paper bags and I'll pack it up for you."
"Why? Is Mere coming finally?" Alex asked with wide eyes.
Fred looked over at John and nodded. "Yeah, Mere is finally coming," she said as she slowly stood and called down to medical so Carson would know they would be down there soon.
