Kyri stared at Evan for a moment in confusion when he asked his question. Meowing? Trying to escape? What was he talking about? When he told her it was a joke, she was still confused. Was he comparing her to an Earth animal?
She let him lead her over to the couch. When she felt him brush up against her as they sat down, she jumped slightly and throbbed as a rush of arousal went through her. She had to shift slightly so they weren't so close; otherwise, she knew she wouldn't get through this without trying to pounce him again.
"It's very similar, yes," she said. She felt so bad for not telling him this before, but she really had thought they'd have more time to prepare for this. "We - I mean females - are only fertile once a year, and when we are, we're driven by an instinctual need to mate. Unlike with animals, though, we can manage to ignore it if we need to. The previous times this happened to me, I went down to the hut by the river and spent a lot of time in the water. Cold helps take the edge off because it's a very intense drive."
She sighed and stood up to distract her body from what it was feeling for a moment. "This shouldn't be happening to me again yet, but it is. I don't know why, but it is. And I know we haven't discussed having a child together, but..." She looked at him. "I want very much to have a child with you, Evan, but if you're not ready, I can wait too."
