"Now there, wee one," Carson said with a smile as he pressed his stethoscope to CJ's chest. He listened to her heart and breathing before nodding to her mother. "She's doing great."
Sam nodded and shifted CJ against her shoulder. "Well, I could have told you that. She certainly has the lungs to scream when she wants to."
"Aye, I can imagine." Carson went to get the inoculation he needed to give CJ and brought it back.
"Getting excited about Shaun's birth?" Sam asked while he prepped her daughter's arm. She cooed at her when he gave her the injection and then rocked her gently when she started to cry.
"Very much. Can't believe he's almost here. Rodney keeps trying to get her to rest, of course, but you know how Cait can be." He had just put the syringe in the bio-waste container when the city suddenly rocked violently. "What the--?"
A moment later, pain shot through Carson. But he wasn't hurt. It was... Oh God. Rodney and Cait.
"Chuck, this is Colonel Jackson. What's going on?"
"Medical! We need medical! People hurt in the lab! There's been an explosion!"
Without even waiting, Carson ran for the door and up toward the lab just as Rodney's voice screamed for him in his mind. Cait was hurt. Something bad had happened to their wife. Oh God. Oh God oh God oh God oh God.
"Carson, what's going on?" Ronon asked as he fell into step with him when he ran out of the transporter. "I felt a--something exploded?"
He couldn't answer him - his throat was tight with worry and his heart was pounding in his chest. Reaching the lab area, Carson gasped when saw the debris blocking their path.
"Rodney! Cait!" Carson screamed.
"Max! Are you there?" Ronon called out before starting to try to pull aside the debris. "We need to get through."
