When Sam heard his voice, she turned around. "Daniel!" she said in relief.
But then as she stared at him, standing there with mail in his hand and a confused look on his face, it really hit her that this wasn't her Daniel. Her husband. She had known that of course, but seeing that he didn't recognize her at all and not being able to sense him the way she had grown used to. Swallowing, she took a deep breath and stepped forward.
"I am...in a way," she told him. Oh god, what could she say? He didn't know her. He didn't know the Gate. "I..."
She looked at the mail in his hands again and saw what looked to be a flier for books. Books. If Daniel was a professor, he would have written books. So did he write about the pyramids the way he had in her world?
She decided to take a chance.
"I need to talk to you, Daniel. Your theories about the pyramids...you're not wrong," she told him.
