"And then your mommy made me get out of the warm bed, and made me go to the park with her," Daniel said as he paced the quarters with CJ in his arms. "It was cold and snowy, and she wanted to make a snowman. That was the day I fell in love with her. She was so beautiful, with her rosy cheeks. And, you're beautiful just like her."
CJ looked up at him, and cooed before she shoved her fist in her mouth. Chuckling, Daniel continued to pace the room with her, knowing she liked it. He leaned down and softly kissed her forehead.
"How about we hang out on the couch while we wait for your mommy to get back," he suggested.
Daniel turned toward the couch, and was about to take a step forward when something washed over him. Sam. There was something wrong with Sam. Sam? he said, his heart pounding. But she didn't answer, and he couldn't feel her anymore.
"Fred? What's going on?" he asked over his headset.
There was a pause, and then, "Something happened with the Gate and Sam...we don't know where she went. She just disappeared," she said.
Daniel didn't answer her. Instead, he rushed out of his quarters, CJ securely in his arms, and went to the nearest transporter. When he arrived in the Gate room, several scientists were standing around with their tablets.
"Where's my wife?" he demanded to know.
"There was a power surge. We don't know what happened," Rodney said, coiling away from Daniel when he glared at him.
"Get her back," Daniel hissed.
"We're trying," Rodney said before he went back to looking at his tablet.
