Fred decided she wasn't going to let Mark bother her. She knew he couldn't figure out what Rodney had done to the crystals so she leaned against the counter and smirked. And as the moments passed, the more upset Mark got. "Help me!" he finally yelled as he looked at Fred. "Get your fucking ass over here and help me!"
"What's going on in here?" Carter asked as she hurried in. "Why are you yelling, Doctor Duncan?"
Mark looked around frantically and suddenly pulled out a gun. He reached over and grabbed Jennifer and placed the barrel of the gun against her head. "You," he said as he nodded toward Carter, "cut off communication and shut off the lab from anyone getting in."
"Mark!" Fred said as she stepped forward. "What in the hell are you doing?"
"Shut up!" he yelled. He looked at Fred and narrowed his eyes. "You purposely did something so I couldn't do my project. Fix it or I'll kill her!"
Fred felt her heart start to rapidly beat. This was serious. Her ex-husband was there, holding a gun to her best friend's head. Her thoughts went to John and Harris. If Mark was doing this, it was hard telling what Harris was doing to John. Fear gripped her and she found herself backing away and toward one of the computers. She looked over at Carter and when the other woman nodded at her, Fred turned around and looked down at the computer screen.
"I-I'll fix the crystals," she said as she started to type on the computer. She wasn't doing anything with the crystals. Instead, she was sending a message to Rodney's tablet, telling him they were in trouble and to be careful. Hopefully, he got the message.
"Turn it all off!" Mark yelled as he looked at Carter.
Soon the doors of the lab were closing but luckily she didn't turn off communications. She had only made it seem like she had.
"It's done. Now let Doctor Keller go," Carter said.
