That night, as John lay in bed, holding his wife, he found himself thinking about the next day. He knew Fred could take care of herself, but that didn't stop him from absolutely not trusting her ex-husband as far as he could throw him. Which would have been into the Lantean Ocean if he was able. So he made a decision.
The next morning after he got ready for the mission, he kissed Fred goodbye - for a good long time - then headed down toward the Gate room. He was glad to see Teyla before he got there and pulled her aside, asking her to stay behind. Once he explained that he didn't trust Mark or Harris, but he did trust her to keep the little weasel of a scientist in line, she agreed. While she headed off toward the lab, John continued to the Gate room where Ronon, Rodney and Lorne were waiting.
"Any idea what this mission is actually about?" Rodney asked.
"I have no clue," John said with a shake of his head, just before Harris entered, wearing combat fatigues. Lorne looked over at him, and John knew he was thinking the same thing he was: Was this man planning on going into a battle?
"I've already given Operations the address of the planet we'll be going to," Harris said before looking at them. "Where's Teyla Emmagan?"
"She's had to withdraw from the mission. Personal issues," John explained, elbowing Rodney before he could say anything so he'd keep quiet.
"All right, then. We should get going."
Soon, they were heading through the Gate. When they arrived, Harris looked around. "Right. This way."
John wondered what in the world he was doing, acting like he knew the place.
