Fred started to laugh as Rodney started to complain about their daughter. She looked up at John and shook her head. "She's going to be smart like you, too," she said as Jennifer cleaned her stomach off and helped her sit up. Fred was pulling down her shirt when Rodney pulled out the relic. "Wow."
Reaching out, she took it from Rodney's hands and looked at it. "Amazing," she said as she turned it over and looked at it. "I wonder what it's made of," she said as she used her fingernail to scratch some of the metal off. "It doesn't seem to come off too easily. We'll have to put together something to get some of it to peel off." She then realized what she was doing and gave Rodney a sheepish look. "I'm sorry, Rodney. It's your relic, not mine."
"No, it's fine," Rodney said as he took the bottle from her. "I don't mind the help. We can start on it tomorrow."
"You might want to postpone whatever you're going to do," Carter said as she walked in with Callie and Jake. Immediately, Carson fumbled the medical instrument he had in his hands and blushed. Carter smirked a little and looked at the rest of them again. "We have a special guest coming in about an hour. General Jacob Harris is coming with a scientist. They need our help and resources for something. SGC said it's important we help."
The moment Carter said General Harris' name, Fred felt her chest tighten. Why was Mark's father-in-law coming to the station? She started to wonder if the 'scientist' coming with was Mark and her stomach did a flip. She didn't want him there. He had no business coming there and upsetting what she had. Besides, he wasn't that good of a scientist and Fred didn't know why he would be coming there. She glanced over at John and thickly swallowed. Maybe she was overreacting but she couldn't shake the awful feeling she suddenly felt.
