Leaning forward a bit, Sam listened as Max explained how she had been recruited by the IOA before sighing and shaking her head. Figured. Woosley had been looking for someone he thought he could manipulate, and obviously, that person was a lot smarter than he gave her credit for.
"I wish you had told me that from the beginning," she said softly before Max continued on and told her what had happened that had caused her to be fired. Her anger boiled a bit at that - Woosley had actually thought that he had a right to tell the people who made their home here and worked to protect the city just as hard as everyone else that they couldn't live there?
She had to hand it to Max. She was a lot braver than she had given her credit for. And she knew that was partially her fault.
"I'm sorry for the way I acted too," she told her. "Daniel can tell you, I'm not at my best when people I think are wrong are trying to tell me what to do. One of our first missions as part of SG-1 got me in a bit of trouble because of that."
She shook her head. That seemed so long ago now. Back when she was just finding out just how different the universe really was. And she was sure that Max was finding that out too.
"If we had both just sit down and talked about everything, I think things would have been a hell of a lot different. Although, you'll have to excuse me for being just a little glad that you're not the liaison anymore."
She gave her a lopsided smile before shaking her head. "Are you going to be okay? Woosley made it pretty clear that he wants you to stay here and finish up the projects you started, but if you don't feel comfortable...?"
