Fred was glad to be back in the jumper since it meant they were finally going home. She wanted to see her children and hold them for the rest of the day. Once she was strapped in, she sat back as John took the jumper through the Gate, smiling when Sam's voice came over their headsets. And, once the jumper was landed, she hurried out and toward the stairs.
"Hey you two," Fred said with a grin. Chase ran toward her and flung himself at her. She scooped him up and held him close. "You okay, little man?"
"I was scared," Chase sniffled. He pulled back to look at her, his big, blue eyes filled with tears. "Don't like the bad men 'cause they're bad."
Fred felt her heart break at the sight of her little boy crying. She suddenly wished she wouldn't shot Trog, instead of just breaking his nose. "It's okay, sweetie," she said. She used the cuff of her jacket to gently wipe the tears off his cheeks. "I hear you got to help feed CJ."
"Sam let me hold her bottle," Chase quietly said before he snuggled closer to his mom. "Don't want to go back to daycare."
"Me either," Fred heard Alex comment.
"Then you won't," Fred said as she rubbed Chase's back and swayed with him in her arms. "Thanks for helping us, buddy. I love you."
"Love you too, Mommy," Chase said, his voice muffled against Fred's shoulder.
