Nodding, Sam let go of Daniel's hand as he rushed back to their bedroom. She took a very more deep breaths and stood up, looking down at her protruding abdomen. "Have you been actually trying to tell me you're coming all day?" she asked. "Is that what the back pain was all about?"
A few moments later, Daniel came rushing back out and, like something out of a movie, went right past her toward the door. Sam's brow furrowed when she saw the wheelchair and was caught for a moment between asking him where he was going and what in the world he was doing with the chair. Surely, she could walk up to medical.
When he turned around, she shook her head and opened her mouth to protest. "Daniel, it's not that bad. I'm sure I can..." Suddenly, another contraction hit, and Sam sucked in a breath against the pain, taking her husband's hand and letting him help her sit down. "Okay, maybe not."
Once they were upstairs at medical, Carson came hurrying out from his office and led them back to the private rooms. "Your husband has a way with letting people know about things," he told Sam with a chuckle and giving Daniel a wink as they helped her out of the wheelchair. "And I was wondering where this had gone."
"I think I've been in labor for a while now. I've been having back pains since this morning but didn't think anything of it," Sam told Carson as she sat down on the bed.
"Aye...sounds like. We'll do a scan and see how far you are, and then we'll get things set up."
Sam nodded and lay back, reaching out for Daniel's hand again. "We should tell Molly," she told him. "She wanted to be here."
