Kyri embraced Evan when he moved to wrap his arms around her and rested her head in the crook of his neck, closing her eyes as he assured her it wasn't their fault. She had always suspected that there was something that was causing Mike to keep back - just something that seemed to crop up at times, especially when things got more emotionally involved, but she had thought it was just her seeing things because of what had happened with Xan.
"It's not your fault," she said softly. "I know you probably were hoping it would work out."
She snuggled closer to him, listening to his heart beat and taking comfort from the fact that while Mike had left, he was still there. And when he spoke, saying those words to her, she felt her breath catch for a moment before she raised her head to look up at him.
"Of course I still want you," she told him softly, reaching up to cup her hand to his cheek. "I love you too, Evan. I have for a while now. I wanted to tell you...and Mike...long before now, but with the way she..."
She trailed off, knowing that dwelling on Mike wasn't a good idea. So instead, she leaned up and kissed him, slowly and deeply. "I love you," she said again, trusting that when he said that would get through this together, they would.
