Max continued to stare up at the light and tilted her head to look at the socket. Whoever had tied it up there had done a good job with the knot and she didn't know how she was going to get it down. Pursing her lips, she looked around the lab, wondering if she had any scissors or a knife to cut the cord with. She was about to jump down when a voice came from the doorway.
Jumping a little, Max turned around and looked at the man - a rather large man - standing in the doorway. She hadn't seen him before but it wasn't as if she were Miss Popularity and she knew everyone in the city. Giving him a small smile, she shrugged.
"Just trying to get my tablet down," she said as she pointed up at it. "Someone tied it up there as a joke."
Max knew it wasn't a joke but she wasn't about to tattle. She was well-liked and the last thing she wanted to do was to alienate the city even further by getting others in trouble. "I'm the new person so I think the entire science department has decided to intiate me," she added before she looked up at the tablet again.
