The days following Jennifer's death was difficult. As the news spread through the city, a sense of gloom seemed to follow. They had lost expedition members before but Jennifer was a close friend to those on the senior staff. Plus, she had been one of the expedition's main doctor and everyone had dealt with her at one time or another.
The hardest thing for Fred was having to explain to Alex what happened to Jennifer. The little girl had adored the other woman and was afraid the same would happened to her own parents. Jennifer's death served to remind all of them of what was important and they held on to their families a little tighter.
Even though they were in mourning, life moved on in the city. Rodney, Radek and Fred studied the readings from the puddle jumper and determined it was a malfunction none of them could've known about. And, a week after her death, Ronon asked Sam and Daniel to watch Callie and Lis for him, while asking John and Fred to take care of Finn. It would seem it was a tradition amongst his people to mourn the death of their spouses in private.
Ronon had been gone for a few days when it was decided to have a senior staff meeting to decide what to do next. Obviously, they needed to make some changes in medical and Fred still needed to speak to all of them about what she'd seen the night before Jennifer's death.
Walking into the meeting room, Fred smiled at Sam and Daniel before sitting down next to John. As soon as everyone was there, they started the meeting.
"Are the rumors true?" Rodney asked as he looked over at Sam. "The IOA is sending a liaison to the city?"
"What?" Fred asked, furrowing her brow. "A liaison? What in the heck are they trying to do?"
