Daniel looked at Sam, his throat tightening when he saw the tears in her eyes. "Don't cry," he whispered to her. "I'll be okay. Promise." He then nodded. "I tried my best to cut off the connection so you wouldn't worry but I guess I still have a lot to learn when it comes to that."
No matter how many times Sam told him not to apologize, Daniel still felt bad for putting himself in the situation that led to him being shot. He should've been paying attention when the Wraith came. "I know," he said, giving his wife a soft kiss. "I love you so much, Sam."
He had just kissed her again when Jennifer came in with the cup of water. Daniel gave her grateful look before slowly shifting so he could take a drink from it. The cool water felt good going down his raw throat. "Thank you," he told Sam before laying his head back on the pillow. "Good. She's young and doesn't need to be worrying about things."
Daniel reached out and held Sam's hand. It didn't take long before Molly showed up and came into the room. The little girl stopped and looked at her parents.
"What happened?" she asked.
"I got shot by accident but I'm going to be all right," Daniel told her as Molly stepped in further and sat on Sam's lap. She then leaned over and softly kissed Daniel's cheek.
"I'm glad you're all right, Dad," Molly said before she laid her hand on top of her parents'.
