"It's just a splinter, Rodney," Carson told him as they walked down to the infirmary. He had stopped in the lab after returning from the mission he had gone on with John's team to find him pouting about having hurt himself.
"That's not a splinter. It's a damn twig." Rodney held his hand out to him. "Look."
"It's metal."
"That makes it even worse."
Carson snorted and shook his head. "You're a bloody hypochondriac, I swear. You just want the attention of a doctor."
Only when it comes to a certain doctor, Doctor, Rodney told him with a grin.
"So that's why you were always complaining of something? You wanted to see me?"
"Finally. Takes four years and a psychic connection to figure it out."
Shaking his head, Carson gently pushed him into his office and had him sit down in the chair before he got a few pieces of equipment and a bandage. Once he had removed the metal splinter, he put the bandage on. "Better?"
"Not quite."
Taking his hand, Carson kissed it. "Now?"
"Almost."
With a laugh, he leaned over and kissed him deeply. Now.
Much better.
"Good. Now, come on. Cait and the girls are waiting for us," he said.
They walked back out to find Jennifer putting some things in the medical waste bin, and when she saw them, she jumped, like she was hiding something. "Hey, guys."
"What's going on?" Rodney asked. "Are you all right?"
"Going on? What would be going on. I was just cleaning up, and..." She looked at the two of them as they stared at her. "Oh...all right..." She held out what was in her hand.
"It's a pregnancy test," Carson said. "And it's positive. Are you pregnant?"
"Me? No! It's...I'm pretty sure it's Cait's."
Rodney and Carson looked at each other. Cait's?
"Um...congrats."
The two of them didn't even respond before they hurried out of the room and down to their quarters.
