"Thanks so much, you two," Carson said when Cait and Rodney teased him about the dandelion. Of course, moments later, both of them had dandelions too, and he just smirked in amusement. "You two look absolutely lovely."
When Cait told Rodney about Sam and Daniel while they were eating, he shook his head at his reaction. "Daniel's a good bloke," he said, and he saw Rodney slowly nod his head. Well, that was something, at least. Probably the first time Rodney had actually acknowledged something good about Daniel Jackson.
As Erin cuddled against Cait, Carson smiled softly. God, he'd missed having the little girl around as well as Rodney. They had been part of their family, and seeing them again like this reminded him just how much.
And he could see in Rodney's eyes that he'd missed it too, especially when he mentioned that he hasn't really slept in a while.
"Rodney, if you need to sleep, then sleep," he told him. "Cait is right - you're not alone."
He nodded and leaned against him as he finished eating. Carson looked over at his wife, wishing there was more that they could do for him - it was obvious that there was so much that had to be dealt with regarding Laura. But all Carson really wanted was to take Rodney and Erin home, as selfish as it was. And it was bloody selfish, he knew.
Suddenly, he heard a slight snore and looked down, chuckling. I think he took our words to heart, love, he told Cait before shaking his head. There's got to be more that we can do for him.
