Caitlin was glad when her husband came over to embrace Rodney too. She could tell Rodney had been fighting this on his own and needed someone there to support him. She was also glad when he agreed to them moving to one of the private lounges. Caitlin didn't want anyone to walk in on them and make a big deal about what they were doing.
She sat down on the other side of Rodney and held his hand while he spoke. It broke her heart to hear him sounding so lost. All of it reminded her of when they thought Laura was dead. Part of her wished Laura had never came back because she could see how much it was hurting Rodney.
"He's right, Rodney," Caitlin said. "We'll always be here for Erin and you. No matter what happens."
"Okay," Rodney quietly answered before he laid his head on Carson's shoulder. "How's Charlie?"
Caitlin softly smiled. "She's doing great. Growing like a weed. She misses Erin and you." She bent down and picked up her bag and pulled a recent picture of Charlie out. "See? She still sleeps with that blanket she stoled from you."
Rodney smiled a real smile and took the picture. "She's gotten bigger," he said before he looked from Caitlin to Carson. "I want to go home. I want to go back to Atlantis. I miss all of you - even Radek and Jackson." More tears came to his eyes. "I'm afraid I'll never get my wife back and I'll lose myself along the way."
Caitlin reached over and cupped Rodney's face, and turned it so he was looking at her. "You won't ever lose yourself, Rodney. Carson and I will always be here for you," she promised. "Like Carson said - we still love and care for you. That will never change and you'll always be Charlie's daddy, no matter what. Okay?"
Rodney nodded his head. "Okay," he said before he leaned his head against Carson. He wrapped his free arm around Caitlin and pulled her closer. The three sat like that for a moment before Caitlin looked at Carson.
What are we supposed to do? We can't leave him alone like this, she said to him before she softly kissed the top of Rodney's head.
