Daniel leaned forward and folded his hands on the table as Sam asked Noll and his people to move to the mainland. He was pleased when they agreed to it. He knew the Sanguis would make good use of the land, and having a strong ally close by was aways a good thing. Daniel knew they would be able to learn a great deal from the Sanguis, and vice versa.
Kaevan looked at his spouses for a moment before clearing his throat. "Since Noll and Ellia will be becoming a part of Atlantis, I think it's time I explain my race to all of you. We rarely make allies with others, due to our nature," he explained before taking a deep breath.
Daniel watched Noll reach over and place his hand on Kaevan's arm. Furrowing his brow, he wondered what sort of race Kaevan was from. "As long as you're truthful with us, what you are won't matter. We've encountered many different races both here and in the Milky Way," he told Kaevan.
The other man looked to his spouses and, after Noll gave him a nod of encouragement, Kaevan looked at the rest of them. "I am a Lykaios. When the Ancients first came to the Pegagus galaxy, and the Wraith started to target them, they decided to make a weapon. They offered a small settlement of people the chance to live in the city, but only if they were allowed to test their medicines on them," he started to explain. "They gave all the villagers a gene therapy, much like the ATA gene, but this gene caused the villagers to turn into wolf-like creatures during certain parts of the lunar cycle."
"You're a werewolf?" Jennifer asked with wide eyes.
"Pardon? A werewolf?" Kaevan asked with a confused look.
"A werewolf is a Earth human, who transforms into a wolf during the full moon cycle. Some people believe they're real, while others believe they aren't. In order to become one, you have to be bitten by a werewolf and infected with the lycan virus," Daniel explained to their guests. "I have a book about it if you would like to read it."
"Yes, that would be good," Kaevan said with a slight nod. "Anyway, it became too hard for the Ancients to control us so they placed us on another planet and left us there. As we bred, the gene was passed on. Eventually, we developed a medicine that would allow us to only transform when we want to. The medicine is still rather new and we still have to take injections everyday. Due to our nature, and fear of what others may do to us, we are an isolated race. Because of this, we do not trust others freely. Our alliance with the Sanguis is almost a century old. We would like to have an alliance with those of you in Atlantis but first you must perform in a ceremony with my people."
Daniel raised his eyebrows. "What sort of ceremony?" he asked.
"We would like your leader Samantha to come, along with you Daniel, to our planet and take part in it. It is not difficult. All of our allies, even the Sanguis, have done the same."
Daniel didn't know what to say. He didn't understand why he was picked to go. Not that he was complaining - he rather go and make sure Sam was safe. "Why was I picked?" he asked.
"Because of your knowledge of the languages and history of the galaxy," Kaevan answered.
