"Well I imagine it'd go something like this: 'Hey, D, I'd like to take the kids out on my own.' 'Yeah, I don't think so.' 'Oh, why not?' 'You might scare them, or bad magical things might happen to them, or those people who took you might come back again...' 'Oh, so you admit they're a risk then?' 'Only to you. In fact, why don't you just keep the scary and unpleasant bits of life over there with you, and I'll stay over here with the kids.' 'Well isn't that just bloody lovely, and what do you think you're going to do if someone comes after Maddy and Jonah anyway?'" She even did a halfway impression of D's voice for his bits.
"And so on. It goes a bit differently every time I run through it, but it generally ends with me pegged as the bad guy. Not all that pleasant, really."
