"You'll have to find out what works for you," he replied. "It's more about not flinching in the face of someone trying to attack you. That's what I'm going to have to do, eventually. Attack you." The look on his face told her that he wasn't looking forward to that.
"I find, and mind you, this is just me, that sometimes I need to think clearly without any sort of emotional entanglements clouding my judgment. I put them away in a box in my mind." He flushed a little at that admission. "I would recommend practicing with something that was close to your heart, something you cared about, but needed to think about in an impassioned manner."
