Alright... so now that everyone's had a chance to settle in, I figure it's time to talk plot and generate some ideas on how to get things moving. (And also to offer up Katherine as needed, to give characters a reason to do things.)

This post will be a little scattered and for that, I apologize, but I'm generally a little scattered myself.

By now, most of the characters are moved into the Anhalt, although there are a few exceptions. So it should be expected that they can start acting as Team Something.

This being a plot device mainly, I wanted to say that people should feel free to start talking about ideas for how these characters could act as a supers team. This post here's a good place to do it. We've all likely read a comic or two in our time. I think those scenarios can be used as jumping off points; likewise, I don't think it would be a bad idea to develop villains that could also be used against the protagonists. (And yes, NPCs can be used for this.)

Within reason, it's fine to "borrow" Katherine or use a black envelope to have characters sent on missions. (A tweet to the game twitter might be nice for a FYI that the post needs to be read. They are all read by a mod but it's sometimes hard to keep up on threads.) Clearly, Kat's not going to send anyone out for pop tarts but it's okay to use her for your basic superhero type stuff. This could be anything from stopping a hate crime in progress to chasing down a much larger threat.

I'm keeping this short because I'll be at work in a few hours but I wanted to get the ball rolling and see what people's thoughts in general were.

I think it would helpful to maybe be given some kind of overview of what's happening in the area/state/country overall with the reinstatement of the Wild Card Acts, just so we're all on the same page. Have one player thinking it's sort of a gradual erosion of rights, and another thinking it's more immediately catastrophic could be problematic.

One suggestion I made to Gwen last night, and want to make it to the group at large, is what possibly people might want to consider coming up with things that can be put out on [info]feedsite. I like the idea of the brief snippets of news, gossip, whatever being put out there on this media feed. They can act as journal and/or plot prompts, without a player necessarily having to come up with a whole plot themselves revolving around it.

I've seen what can happen when an offhand mention of something in one thread ends up spawning a whole plot for a completely different set of players, and it's pretty cool. So it might be useful that way.

Once I start to get Alec integrated into things (I'll post about him in OOC shortly) he may also be useful for infiltrating online media, so that we can start fighting back that way as well, which may be useful for plot purposes.

I like the idea of using feedsite. Very cool for prompts.

As my own note, I kind of... I'm not the best plotter, but if someone gives me a prompt or wants to bounce things off of me, I'm good at running with things and working with people to make plots grow.

I'll think.

There's nothing wrong with not being a plot generator! That's what this board is for. (Though I'd add that I like your characters and plots. :))

I tend to think of this as a gradual erosion of rights, mainly because legislative effects don't necessarily take place right away, given my experience with how bureaucracies work. I'm open to discussion of it though which is why it's on the plot board. I think some people have different ideas of this, just reading through the posted rps.

I'm also in agreement with the feedsite idea although I'd add that not everything needs to be a massive plot. This can also be simple things--concerts, things character might think are funny. Shoot them over to the mod box if you have them (though as ever, CCing my email isn't a bad idea while Cass is on hiatus).

Just a thought - is there a reason the feedsite journal can't be open for players to post from? Rather than having everything have to go through the mods?

Sort of along the lines of an NPC journal that everyone has the username and password for, if they choose.

I'm reluctant to make the call on that at this point, since Cass is on hiatus. I'd be open to a NPC/feedsite journal that was player-controlled if players agreed to manage it. There are some advantages to knowing which news comes from the mods.

Kind of a general addition here... Really, I also just kind of wanted to find out what people were looking for and wanted out of the game right now. I don't want anyone getting bored, after all. *g*

I like the idea of missions, and I apologize for not being more active - a friend bought me 30 days of WoW time and I've been letting it eat my brain XD; I will get back on track soon, though, I promise.

I'm having a hard time seeng this group as a spandex wearing team, it has more of a Heros feel to it. Not that it's a bad thing, but I'm having issues seeing us going off on missions like the Xmen. I'm enjoying myself, no worries, but am kinda focused on getting to know everyone right now. But I'm happy to be pointed at a plot and play with it.
