When Fred started to blush, Jack found himself grinning. He had always thought women who blushed were beautiful. Seeing Fred's cheek redden made her even more beautiful, if that were possible. He couldn't help but to wonder what else made her blush - a thought that made him clear his throat and look over at the government agent.
"Sounds good," Jack said before he glanced over at Jo. "You have the office. If anything happens, give me a call."
"I'll be fine," Jo said before she waved Jack off and sat down behind her desk.
Once all of them went outside, Jack stopped before they got into their SUVs. "Just so you know...Allison recently lost her fiancee. It's a long story but it happened on their wedding day and she has moments where she's not completely on her game," he explained to them. Allison was getting better, but there were still times when she got that look in her eyes.
"She'll be fine, Jack," Max said before she got into one of the SUVs with Radek and the others.
When he heard Fred's voice beside him, Jack turned and smiled at her. "Guess you are. Hope you don't mind riding in the sheriff's SUV," he said. He motioned her toward the vehicle and opened the passenger side door for her. "Wouldn't want anyone to think I arrested you."
Jack softly laughed at his lame joke and shut the door once she was inside. He went to the driver's side of the SUV and soon all of them were on their way to Global Dynamics. He noticed the third SUV, the one carrying their things, pulled off to go toward the neighborhood where all of them would be living. A brand new subdivision, with state of the art security, had been built for all them, and they were located right next to where he lived.
"So, Fred," Jack said as he drove through the town. "Seeing anyone?" When he realized what he had said, he coughed and shifted in his seat. "I mean...how do you like Eureka so far?"
