It really was freezing. It got cold at home in the winter, but not the same kind of cold. And usually not the giant piles of snow, magical mistletoe, or people who could fly, either, but Isaac was getting used to that last one. . . much as you could get used to it.
He'd probably have been a lot more freaked out if he was just stuck here with strangers. But Scott and Allison were here, and Derek and Cora and the others. Isaac could deal with weird when it didn't also involve being stranded alone. His life had been weird even before he was a werewolf. This was overall a better brand of strange than what he'd gotten used to.
But it was hard to sleep. Having Scott across the hall helped, since he smelled like pack and familiarity. But Isaac still put in a lot of time playing stupid games and watching late night TV, or snooping on people on the network. (It didn't count as snooping if they were posting publicly anyway, he reasoned.) So he really had been up when Allison texted. Even if he hadn't been, Isaac would have gotten up and gone over though. He half wondered if he should wake Scott and tell him, because he didn't know where anything stood, these days. He knew Allison and Scott were going to that ball, and they'd been here for a while. Maybe together, he didn't know. Isaac didn't want to do anything that would tip the balance too far one way and lose him either of their friendship.
But Scott was asleep anyway, and it was just a movie, and he was being stupid. So Isaac just pulled a sweatshirt on over the shirt he'd been sleeping in and dragged the blanket off his bed, wrapping it around him like a cape and slipping out of his apartment and across to Allison's, knocking lightly and then letting himself in when it was open. "Hey." He dropped the phone he still held into the pocket of his flannel pants. "I was going to bring a bag of snacks or something, but then realized we didn't have any. So just imagine I brought food?"
