So, Storybrooke. The place didn't really feel a whole lot different, you know, once you got past that whole, temporal displacement, combining realities, and the fact there was nothing here that even resembled a city. Still the place was quaint, had it's charms and, even in May missed the tall buildings to sling her webs from, she rather liked it here. The only complaint May really had about the place, aside from it being not her home, was that she'd begun to feel lonely. Where she was from there was always someone. She had her friends, she had her parents, she even had her baby Brother. Even having April here, whom May genuinely enjoyed the company of, she was finding herself feel that itch to be social. Besides, as awesome as it was to have a sister, things between her an April sometimes had a way of being complicated. She knew, so as not to drive either of them crazy, she needed to get out and have some experiences that weren't so hinged around April or school. May adjusted the strap of her bag on her shoulder and found herself actually somewhat anxious when it came to waiting for Cassie. School was a strange place no matter where you were. May had always felt confident with her ability to navigate it, even when she tended to combine the overlap of excelling and popularity. She was the science nerd who played basketball and liked comics. She was the kind of girl who enjoyed shopping as much as she did studying and, while most of her friends back home tended to just accept that, May knew she was pretty strange as far as most high-schoolers went. She did her best to seem casual, relaxed, and friendly. She wasn't shy about who she was, being the daughter of a super hero, never mind having powers herself, made that kind of hard anyway. Still, May felt that tiny nag of anticipation and excitement that came with meeting new people. Plus, they were going to go shopping for costumes for a Halloween party -- and one which Cassie seemed pretty insistent May should come to. That would be nice, and the option to get to be social? Well, today seemed like it would scratch all May's itches at once. |
