Who: William Darcy & Lizzie Bennet!
What: He arrives. He's not happy.
Where: Meh, near Gold's Pawn Shop.
When: RIGHT NOW, MOTHERCLUCKERS.
Rating/Status: Probably low/in-progress
"Marry me, Lizzie."
The words hung in the air between them for a moment, her eyes wide. William knew his looked just as comical. Had he really just blurted that? He had a speech, and flowers and romance planned, and he said that in the closet of all places on the earth? Before she could even say any of what she was inevitably feeling- overwhelmed, surprised, disgusted, why hadn't she said anything?!- William walked over to his nightstand, still clad in his boxers and undershirt and retrieved the box. Taking a deep breath, he walked back into the closet, closing the door behind him as he did and turned to her again.
"Lizzie," he began, clearing his throat that had suddenly become unbelievably tight. "Lizzie, you know that I love you more than I can express. You know that all I've ever wanted was to try to make you happy and to try to be the man that you deserve. To be someone that sees you and deserves to be seen by you. There's nothing more that I can say that you do not know already. You know every part of me, the dark and the light and thankfully, because of you, there is so much more light than I ever knew before." William took another cleansing breath. "So, Elizabeth Bennet, if it would make you happy, and know that I like to think I make you the epitome of that particular emotion, will you marry me?"
And then suddenly, within the span of a gasp and a widening of Lizzie's eyes, he wasn't in his closet anymore. Why wasn't he in his closet anymore? Of all the places to end up, the last place he thought that would be was a cold old-time city in nothing but a t-shirt and boxers. His knee hit the pavement hard, and William gasped out slightly in pain. Goddammit.
He checked for any surrounding damage, pleased when he found that his mother's ring was still clutched tightly in his hand. Losing that would be worse than whatever had just happened to him. What had just happened to him?
William stood, his eyes adjusting to the new surroundings, and with a sigh, began to trek to what he hoped would be a clothing store. He didn't have any money on him, but he was hopeful that he could find a way to repay whatever clerk was working at the time. If all else failed, he assumed that he could pawn off his mother's ring, but that would be a last resort.
All the plans he had made in his head, however, quickly came crashing down as he came to a horrifying realization.
Lizzie was nowhere to be seen.
