Danny was angry, and he was hurt, and he wanted to stay that way because it'd been months since he got here, and even longer than that before, when Jackson had been there and actively lying. But Danny had been one of the first people from Beacon Hills to get to this town, and he knew how hard it was to not understand what the hell was going on.
"Forgive is going to take a while," Danny said. "It's hard to buy protection. All the crap happening all around us, it feels like it was just. . . chance, when I didn't know." And Jackson had been busy, caught up in it all. Danny had been spending a lot of time with his asshole ex, yeah. He copped to that. But Jackson hadn't talked to him, even when Danny tried. Danny wanted to believe it, but it still felt like he'd just been cut out. And if he'd just accidentally gone out to get drunk on a full moon or something, he could have ended up dead. He wasn't even sure that wouldn't still happen, back home. On the stupid show Stiles wouldn't quit watching.
But Jackson was, at least, apologizing. It was something. Danny sighed, relenting just a little. "I'm not a kid. I might not be some. . . magical werewolf or anything else, but I could have helped, Jackson. I could have. . . I don't know. I don't know when you stopped talking to me, but I don't like it. You know every stupid thing about me. It sucks when it goes one way."
He shook his head and then moved, dropping down to sit opposite Jackson. "Okay. So I may punch the shit out of your stupid face later, and I'm not done being mad. But I got here and was clueless, so I won't do the same thing to you." Because everything else aside - Jackson was still his best friend. "This place is real. It's not home - Beacon Hills doesn't even exist in this world. The people who live here are from a place that's like. . . fairy tales. So they were Snow White and Prince Charming, back home. But they got cursed here and then tried to do some magic to get home or something, and it went nuts, trapped them in this town and started dragging people in from. . . everywhere. All the fictional people we grew up reading about or watching - they can all show up here. We've got. . . Iron Man and Commander Shepherd and Anakin Skywalker. And the same way they're from TV or comics or something, we're from a TV show. It's called Teen Wolf, if you can believe it."
