Buffy hated how him coming closer made her stomach flip flop. It was infuriating how he could do that to her. She was never indifferent to Spike. He was there for her when she couldn't be honest with the others, when she came back from the dead. It took a long time to admit she wanted him, and much longer to come to terms with it. Then he had his soul and it changed again. They were always changing.
"You are the one who saved the day. I wouldn't forget that. What you did doesn't become less because you survived it. You didn't know you were going to live." Buffy swallowed when she touched her hair and unconsciously leaned closer to him. She was still mad, probably. Should be. In the past few months, they grew emotionally close to one another, but not physically in the same way. The emotional part was what they lacked, at least on her side, and now that was present.
"I thought I made it clear you meant more to me, Spike. It wasn't easy to say that, it's never easy to say that for me, but ... I picked you to have the amulet. Doesn't that mean anything?"
