WHO: Nick Fury & Clint Barton WHAT: Clint says he has a sitrep that needs to be private. Nick isn't so sure why, but he's willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. WHEN: Not long after this WHERE: Town Square RATING: PG-13
Of all of the places that he could have ended up after that mess, the middle of fairy tale village was not one of the first ones that he would have chosen. As much time as he had spent trying to clean up and smooth over the damage that had been caused, there was still a crap ton to do and being knocked off his schedule and trapped in some ridiculous little town in Maine that seemed to think it was infested with storybook characters was not a situation he was going to stand for. Apparently, he couldn't leave, but he had absolutely no intention of taking the word of the person who had come across him at face value. As soon as he had reports from his agents, he was going to do his best to figure out some way out of here.
Natasha had already given him her rundown. Efficient as always, Fury wouldn't have expected any less, but for Clint to claim that the information he had to give needed a secure location left Fury a little confused. There couldn't possibly be anything here that would require that level of secrecy. If anything, a face to face meeting would put them at even more risk than discussing things over this network would. But with the whole situation that Clint had been through with Loki and the lack of trust that had suddenly developed towards him among the other SHIELD agents, Fury wasn't about to show any signs of doubting one of his top agents. Sure, Barton was a pain at the best of times, but he was efficient, deceptively intelligent, and far more loyal than most of the people SHIELD had ever been able to recruit. He was a good agent, and Fury had no intention of losing Barton to his own insecurities.
So he'd agreed. Leaning back against of the posts in the square, keeping his back as shielded as he could in such an open area, he waited for Barton and whatever intel he was bringing with him. He just hoped it was good.
