Not even a day in town, and already a meeting with the Mayor. You're moving up in the world. To a lot of sixteen year old girls, the notion of falling through a magic portal and seeming to end up in the future was probably a little intimidating. Luckily, May Parker was used to strange, bizarre, and intimidating things. The last year of her life had been a wild roller-coaster, everything from discovering that her Dad used to be Spider-Man, to battling some of her old friends who had decided to take up the mantle of his eternal foes. She'd met The Fantastic Five and actually gotten to pal around with Franklin Richards, something that still sent her young heart aflutter. She'd even gone toe to toe with Wild Thing, though that was hardly a shining moment in her crime fighting career. It didn't hurt that this was her second portal experience in as many days either. Despite May now understanding why her spider-sense had been screaming at her as she dove through it, she couldn't really complain too much. Sure, this was the wrong place and they were supposedly trapped here but, without proper bearings, what was she really going to do about it? Besides, when she landed in Storybrooke they'd given her money, a phone, her own apartment, and nobody had even batted an eye to the fact she was dressed like Spider-Man. Sure, it was a harsh contrast to the other portal-world she'd been too, but at least here it didn't seem like she'd have to run from some past-version of her Dad. May considered that the icing on the cake. She took some time to familiarize herself with the general layout of the town, and had she been surprised. It seemed like there were people from every corner and walk of life here -- she was even pretty sure she had seen the Thor walking the streets. May had almost run up to him, just to be sure, but had decided against it. She'd need to get some kind of idea as to what this place was before she went scampering off and acting like...well, a teenage girl meeting one of her idols. Still, she filed him away as 'Someone to annoy later'... Which, as it just so happened, was minutes before the Mayor of Storybrooke had replied to her original post on the town's nexus networking site. Such was how she ended up knocking on the Mayor's door, with a polite smile on her face, and a head full of questions. Was this place really magical? Were those actually super-heroes she saw out there? What about a town roster? Was there one she could see, based on that form she'd filled out? Was her Dad here? What was the general policy on being a super-hero in town? The list was chalked full of practical questions for a girl to ask, when she'd just been told she was stuck in a new town. May was certain that, eventually, the homesickness would set in, that she'd miss her Mom and Dad if they weren't here, but honestly? She was just too excited to worry about that just then. |
