"Whiskey." Jane replied in a manner that was much more akin to their usual banter. Jane might have been collapsing on the inside, but there was a reason why she was a 'natural leader'. She kept it together, and she kept morale up. This was going to be a true test of that. "You're going to want to drink the whiskey. It doesn't pack as much punch as some of what we're used to.." Jane added, moving in the direction of The Hanged Man. "But it'll do the job."
Jane fell silent as she mimicked Jack's posture. Her hands were idly stuffed into the pockets of her slacks as she casually strode toward the bar. She eyed the bandages with concern, and could remember just how the wounds had shown up. Brief as it might have been, the memory (which border-lined on a damn flashback) sent a snap of frost up her spine, which Jane tried diligently to shake off.
"Well, there's been a distinct lack of corpses and orgies, thus far." Jane replied, in an almost forced sense of comedy. "But I think I'm okay with that..." Jane's voice trailed off. "And even if someone did come at you with a carving knife?" Jane looked over at Jack, quite seriously. "They wouldn't get within ten meters." Because, quite frankly, Jane would use her biotics and tear them into tiny little pieces. Nobody was going to hurt Jack, period.
"How about your amp?" Jane asked, rather concerned. Liara had lost the use of her biotics when she'd become human and, though Jane's still worked, she was curious if Jack had met a similar fate. "I would be careful about using it too much at first.." She cautioned, without waiting for the answer. "It's tech way ahead of its time and, if we have an issue with spikes...I don't know if they're going to be able to help us. Still, shouldn't be too much of a problem for us." Thankfully, neither of them was an L2.
The more they walked, the closer they got, the more Jane felt the nagging tug at her heart. Looking at Jack, remembering what happened, Jane felt the tremors shake at her foundation again and, swinging out to step in front of Jack, Jane stopped their forward momentum for a moment.
"Don't hit me, okay?" She half teased, but was being somewhat serious as well. She knew what she was about to do was something well outside of anything she might have done when the two had last seen one another, but it was something she needed. Just one, quick, minute, to make sure this whole thing was actually happening, to make sure it was real. Jane stepped forward and, with careful warning (because she knew Jack quite well), moved to sweep the woman into a hug.
