One of the problems of having super speed was arriving early for an appointment, and then ending up waiting around until the other party showed up. On the other hand, it gave him time to think about the last couple of days, which admittedly came with its own set of problems.
He'd changed into a clean set of jeans and t-shirt, slinking around only after he'd made sure the person who had the apartment originally wasn't there. It was a cowardly thing to do, and Clark felt bad about it, but he just wasn't ready to confront someone who might have a problem with who he was. What he was. But he was also aware they'd have to meet sooner or later. Probably sooner.
For now, he was going to consider this meet-up with Dr. Brennan another test run on how to adjust living in a place where his identity was public knowledge. That had always been a dream of his, not having to hide, yet when confronted with the possibility of such a circumstance, he'd found himself unsure and weighed down with years-old caution and a healthy dose of paranoia. But if it could be done ...
If it could be done, he'd do his best to figure it out.
Until then, he had coffee and hopefully pleasant conversation to look forward to. He glanced up in the direction of the clock tower to gauge the time, and then up and down the street before resuming pacing in front of the diner door.
