Bruce Wayne wasn't happy to be in Storybrooke. His Thursday evening had been particularly eventful, starting with halting the assassination of a Chinese dignitary. One minute, he'd been chasing the shooter across midtown on his armoured Batcycle, then the next, he was rolling down mainstreet of small town USA. Luckily, this wasn't his first rodeo. Five years on the Justice League had exposed Batman to the bizarre and fantastic, this was just another example of the same. Well, two days later and a lot of hacking later, he'd decided this particular example was pretty heavy on both. At least I'm not alone. Barbara, Tim, Stephanie, Kara- none of whom were missing at the time of my departure from Gotham. But from the digital communications, they've been here weeks. Doesn't bode well.
Bruce had quickly holed up in an abandoned warehouse on the edge of town. Whatever the cause of their arrival, they were here. And after a day and a night of throwing everything he could think of at the barrier on the edge of town, it seemed they were here for the duration. Which meant it was time to get the lay of the land. But not as Bruce Wayne. A man didn't spend years of his life and tens of millions of dollars keeping his identity secret, to simply capitulate when faced with a challenge. My name, my history, my life story is fiction here- and well known too, from everything I can dig up. So I come up with a new story...
Luckily he kept some essentials in every one of his vehicles. Nice suit, spiffy tie, fifty thousand dollars in unmarked bills. One never knew what they might require, and right now he needed to look the part. Luckily, the local antique store had just what he needed. Feigning interest in one item or another, he expertly lifted what he needed, leaving a wad of cash well above the listed value, before making his exit. He spent the rest of the day fashioning his costume and accent, and by that evening, he was ready to make his debut performance. He chose the Rabbit Hole for taste more than anything. If face with the choice between a dive and a pirate bar, Bruce knew which one he was going for.
Bruce sauntered in at 9pm, spent a moment eyeing the TV's and ATM, then pulled up a stool. He placed his grey fedora on the bar, and ran a hand through his slicked-back hair. "I'll have an Old Fashioned, bartender. A real old-fashioned from the looks of things" he quipped, in an impeccable early 20th century Bay Area accent. Looking around at the bar's patrons, he raised a glass "This round's on me folks" Bruce said, smiling sarcastically "It's not every day this detective shows up in Never Neverland..."
