Elijah experienced many strange events in his long, long life. He enjoyed the idea of surprises, they were few and far in between, but this was certainly not one he felt comfortable with. One minute he was with Klaus in New Orleans, concerned about the future there with the child, and the next he opened his eyes to find himself in a strange forest. This was no illusion. It was his first guess, since he'd never experienced teleportation either precisely, and he was certain it would be more obvious if so. And then he frowned and could almost smell magic in the air. Witches. He was not terribly fond of witches, although he respected their gifts. Perhaps they were playing a trick on him, to distract him from Niklaus and the child. Elijah adjusted the cuffs of his suit jacket and listened closely. This forest could not stretch too far, and it was simple to find his way out when he chose to. He let his advanced senses take over to get a better read on the area, hearing and sight and smell far sharper than even the best of vampires, and that was when he heard a quickly beating heart. It wasn't there moments before, he would have recognized it, and now it was. Interesting. The more interesting part was the particular scent that came with it, and his eyes narrowed sharply. Elena? Somehow that seemed incorrect, off just a bit, but there was only one way to find out. He moved the short distance between them until he saw the dark haired woman and stopped a polite distance away. He had no interest in alarming Elena Gilbert, she'd been used poorly enough times by their family. Just like his Katerina. "Elena," Elijah said softly, "are you well?" |
