Danny was starting to get over the culture shock of being here and meeting all the fictional heroes he'd grown up wearing Halloween costumes of. But things could still throw him. Like when he saw someone casually pick up the back end of a car. Or fly. Or walk around having Thor's arms. It was hard to take any of that in stride.
Danny had always been more of a sci-fi guy than fantasy, but Harry Potter had been something he had in common with his little sister Shana, and much as she drove him nuts, they were pretty close. They used to argue about Quidditch. Danny always loved the parts in the movies and books with the games, and Shana thought they were the least interesting, and he only liked them because he was a jock. Mostly though, Danny had just liked them because there were flying brooms. It was basically lacrosse in the air. Danny liked to run, and he liked playing on the ground - but flying was going to trump ground sports no matter what.
So there wasn't any way he wasn't taking a chance to actually learn how to fly one. Even if it did mean he'd awkwardly almost-hit on a girl who looked just like Allison Argent. He'd worked out who she was - Danny knew the books and movies, but he didn't remember the ten million minor characters and names the way Shana did. Why she looked like Allison, he didn't know. Maybe in this world she'd shown up in the movies and been played by the same actress who played Allison in this world's show-version of Danny's town.
That wasn't ever going to stop being a headache inducing train of thought, though, so Danny didn't pursue it. He just pondered the wisdom of helmets and then decided concussions were worth risking for the sake of not looking like an idiot and went down to wait for Meaghan to show up.
Even though he'd known what to except, it still took Danny aback for a second when she walked down. He had to doublecheck it wasn't Allison, and decided it didn't dress like her before he smiled. "Hey - Meaghan, right? I'm Danny."
