Ianto remembered the Doctor as being exuberant, but he thought perhaps that was from all the world saving. Nope, he seemed just as eager and excited at the moment, and that startled the proper young Welshman at first. "Yes, I know what you mean, glad that if we have to be here, we might as well be here together." He had a talent for breaking down a whole lot of information into a few succinct sentences. He hoped that skill would come in handy for the Doctor.
"It's good to see you again," he said, more sincerely than he expected. Mostly it was a relief. They were stuck for the time being, but surely the Doctor of all people could figure it out. He had an answer for everything. "And thank you, since I didn't get the chance to say it before, for the whole saving the world part."
Ianto was suspicious the Doctor didn't come help them out with the 456 yet, but maybe he was still coming. "No, that's fine. The last thing I remember an alien species named the 456 were demanding ten percent of the children on the planet as a sacrifice. We didn't take too kindly to it. I don't know how that worked out. You wouldn't happen to be from after that, would you?" It'd be a relief if he was, since that meant the Doctor did come to the rescue and they'd made it out the other side. Rebuilt Torchwood, maybe. Cardiff office was destroyed, but they could start again.
He followed the Doctor's direction without hesitation. Ianto was a very good follower and liked it that way. "I'm fine, the hardest part I think is what you've experienced. Having people around you not remember the same things." Jack was from the past, which caused more than a bit of confusion and pain for Ianto. He couldn't be honest with him about the harder things they'd been through, and their relationship wasn't, well, a relationship at all.
