The familiarity was a feeling to which Steve could wholeheartedly agree on. It was a slight stability in an otherwise uncertain world, something to which they could relate. It was, in part, why he'd chosen that particular avenue of approach for this moment. It was driven all the more to the point when he felt Sharon reach up to adjust his collar and kiss his cheek. Even he, the man who could stem the tide of anything, couldn't stop his arms from sweeping around her in response.
"I love you, Sharon." The words fell effortlessly from his lips. It wasn't an 'I love you too', or some standard reciprocation. It was a statement of his deepest feelings for the woman, a sentiment Steve did his best to pour into his tone. "And showing you that is all I had planned...even if the approach to getting you here was admittedly a little elaborate."
Steve didn't budge an inch from their proximity, instead he just shifted his hand into his pocket to depress the button when he felt it under his thumb. It was a subtle thing really, even if it was enough to get him smiling confidently as the sounds of Jo Stafford's rendition of 'Long Ago and Far Away' began bouncing off the water. Steve didn't say anything to that point, even if he awkwardly wanted to interject how he'd taken the time to figure out how to work the bluetooth and find the specific song he was looking to play for this moment.
Instead, large and muscular hands shifted to her hip and Sharon's own hand respectively. It was a faint shift, and one where Steve wasn't about to try and pull her into anything she might have rejected. A comforting and boyish smile was offered down at her, his blue eyes settling over her own.
"I thought maybe we could start with a dance...since you took the time to bring those shoes?"
