This place - this whole other world - felt different, somehow. There was something missing, and only now was Hope beginning to realize what that was. Mutants - there were a few, of course, like Emma had said, but there was something else lacking, too. Some sense of...a future destiny? Something else. Something she didn't really want to think about right now.
Instead, she was focusing on the fact that there was someone here whom she knew - and while Emma had obviously not been the most friendly person, and she certainly wasn't warm, she was at least familiar. She was someone Hope knew, and could (sort of) talk to. Emma was someone she could relate to, in a way.
As she walked through the town, studying things she hadn't seen, or things that looked familiar because she'd seen the burned out and falling apart versions of towns just like this, Hope wondered. Was this what the future should have been? Was this what she would one day find in her own future back home? She hoped so. When she finally found a building with the sign proclaiming it to be "Granny's," she stopped outside it and studied the diner for a minute. Finally, she took a deep breath and walked on in, unsure of exactly what she should do, at first.
For a few minutes, she stood near the door and looked around. Emma wasn't there yet, which she was a little bit okay with, as it gave her time to get her bearings. Finally, when no one said otherwise, she walked over to sit at the long counter, pushing a few red strands back from her face as she slid onto a stool, studying everything.
