It was usually joked about, between himself and Gretel at least, that he was the least social adept of the two of them. It was true; Hansel was not a people person. He preferred leaving all that to Gretel. But he knew his sister, he could read her better than anything else, her posture, her little expressions, the change in her vocal range, everything.
His eyebrow raised just ever so slightly when she introduced them because okay what now was running through his head. Sam, it seemed, was a friend of Gretel's and there may or may not be more to that. "Hello," taking the offered hand, mostly for politeness -which honestly, he didn't bother with a lot- Hansel just nodded, "Has she now."
It wasn't unheard of for Gretel to make friends, Gretel making friends was the reason why Ben and Edward were tagging along. And Hansel could admit that they weren't terrible additions -he definitely liked Edward more. "I've heard nothing about you."
And it wasn't even an insult, not really. Hansel had just shown up, Gretel had focused a lot more on what the town was like and what to expect rather than who everyone was.
